New Guest at the Porterhouse 18 years 11 months ago #1

Hi all

I was in the porterhouse after a gig last sunday night and noticed a new tap.

Fruli - a strawberry White beer from belgium.

So I had to try a pint. I have to say it was more like a strawberry smootie then a beer. Very intense sweet strawberry taste. The girls of the group had a slurp and loved it - offered to trade. But I persevered.

Definitely worth a try but I would recommend a glass before diving into a pint. Not sure if I'll be ordering it again any time soon

They had this before. Betty is a big fan.

It's by the same company that does Delirium Tremers, Delerium Nocturnum and the Floris range of beers.

I've tried this in the bottle before, didn't do it for me but I was expecting just a hint of strawberry - this looks like a cordial and the strawberry taste is very full on.

It's a pity they don't offer guest beer slots to the smaller Irish brewers every once in a while.

We had it in our place for a while but it didn't sell. I wasn't a fan but one of the other lads liked it... I'll probably give it another shot though, don't want to dismiss it on one bottle. From the tap should be a good comparison...

It’s a common practise for some Belgian brewers to by in a base beer and a fruit to it to make a different beer or age it as with Rodenbach. But there are a load of the on the market added syrups and such a charging a hefty price for the privilege
