I visited the Hilden brewery February of this year, and tried their stout and an ale they had on tap in the restaurant. It was pretty tasty stuff, and kind of beer that can be drunk in excess to quench a monster thirst!

They had no bottled beers at the time for me to take away, but just before we left the restaurant one of the waitresses called me over. We got talking and it turned out that she ran the restaurant attached to the brewery and could get me a bottle or two if I waited a few minutes.

then in came the masterbrewer himself, sweaty from the work he was doing in the brewhouse. He had been busy all morning bottling the latest batch and gave me two uncarbonated bottles with the advice that I should leave them a few weeks before drinking.

That was pretty cool of them, and I'm sure if he wasn't so busy he would have shown me round his small brewery

I'd recommend a visit, and the restaurant is an added bonus as its very good too!

And they had just got their marriage license apparantly so they can now hold the entire ceremony and meal in one venue!! Interesting......

We met them at the Easter Beer Fest in the Franciscan Well recently. Nice beer and nice people.

Thom, how's that polypin doing?

It's got a decent dent in it now thanks to my Dad. It's tasty stuff and plenty bitter which is how I like it.

Ans since they're 'up north' they can marry those batting for the other team too. Hopefully they're as progressive in their marriage policies as they are with their beer making.

Next brew up: Big Gay Al(e).
