Poor Carlow always seems to always suffer from being too close to Kilkenny, even O'Hara's - understandably TBH - set up their brewery tap there. <!-- s:( --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_sad.gif" alt="

But just in case anyone else chances a visit, here's the lowdown beerwise...
As mentioned above [b:3goh9m7u][i:3goh9m7u]Tully's[/i:3goh9m7u][/b:3goh9m7u] on Tullow Street have O'Hara's Pale Ale on tap and most of the rest of the range in bottle. They also have Rebel Red and 5 Lamps Lager on tap, as well as a some other macro-ish imports. I think there [b:3goh9m7u]might[/b:3goh9m7u] be some tap rotation too on the Irish ranges. They have a €4 special on all craft beers, including some Brewdog bottles on Fridays as mentioned.
The [b:3goh9m7u][i:3goh9m7u]Seven Oaks Hotel[/i:3goh9m7u][/b:3goh9m7u] stock O'Hara's Natural Blonde, or did when last I was in a few weeks ago and [b:3goh9m7u][i:3goh9m7u]Carpe Diem[/i:3goh9m7u][/b:3goh9m7u] bar near the Courthouse has a really, really good pint of O'Hara's Pale Ale for only €3.90 when there's sport on! <!-- s:shock: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_eek.gif" alt="" title="Shocked" /><!-- s:shock: -->
BTW, unless it re-opened [b:3goh9m7u]very[/b:3goh9m7u] recently then [b:3goh9m7u][i:3goh9m7u]Gastr[/i:3goh9m7u][/b:3goh9m7u]o on Tullow Street is closed.
Good offies are [b:3goh9m7u][i:3goh9m7u]Carpenter's[/i:3goh9m7u][/b:3goh9m7u] and [b:3goh9m7u][i:3goh9m7u]Carry-Out[/i:3goh9m7u][/b:3goh9m7u] on Barrack Street. Both stock a pretty decent rotating range of Irish beers as well as some very good imported lines. Not Drinkstore range but very good for [i:3goh9m7u]The Hinterlan[/i:3goh9m7u]d and a godsend for me! [b:3goh9m7u][i:3goh9m7u]O'Brien's[/i:3goh9m7u][/b:3goh9m7u] near the Liberty Tree and the local [b:3goh9m7u][i:3goh9m7u]Supervalus[/i:3goh9m7u][/b:3goh9m7u] stock a fair Irish range too!
Foodwise, as well as those previously mentioned there's a really good tapas bar called [b:3goh9m7u][i:3goh9m7u]Mimosa[/i:3goh9m7u][/b:3goh9m7u] opposite the Cathedral and a very good Indian called [b:3goh9m7u][i:3goh9m7u]Bombay Diner [/i:3goh9m7u][/b:3goh9m7u]on Barrack Street opposite the offies I mentioned. They Indian does(?) BYOB which might be handy but not sure if it extends to beer.
The[b:3goh9m7u][i:3goh9m7u] Visual Arts Centre[/i:3goh9m7u][/b:3goh9m7u] is good for a wander and the [b:3goh9m7u][i:3goh9m7u]GBS Theatre[/i:3goh9m7u][/b:3goh9m7u] underneath normally has something good on. Attached to these is [b:3goh9m7u][i:3goh9m7u]Lennons[/i:3goh9m7u][/b:3goh9m7u] as mentioned above, which has great food and stock O'Hara's in bottle.
I'm not affiliated to any of the above and these are just my opinions but it might be of help to anyone whos car breaks down here on the way to Kilkenny! <!-- s:wink: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt="
