ad links 18 years 7 months ago #1

I wonder is there any feeling about adding an BYO/zymurgy magazines ad’s to the site, or what about Amazon /ebay brewing books to raise addition cash for the site?

I buy a couple of brewing books of Amazon and if a small percentage went to the site all the better

I actually have an Amazon advertisers account set up already, but have been holding off putting more ads on the site. There are a number of ways to do it. I can set up targetted links so if a person clicks through and purchases a book we get a few cent, or general context-sensitive ads. The former would be great for a book reviews section, as it provides an excuse to put a link to where to get the book. The latter is general, so will atke the form of a banner or block, and I'm undecided on where that should go. I don't like lots of ads on sites, so I'm careful about what we do.

Basic brewing does it with Amazon I think and they get a little out of every transaction that passes through their sit to Amazon

Could it be made more of a clickly than and ad that appears else when on the site rather than popping up in ever banner on the forum.

Here is their site

Well yes, that's exactly what I described. You can create links or put up banners on your site. When a person follows that, Amazon knows what site they came from. If the person buys a product, the linking site gets a small fee. You don't get anything for users just clicking through to Amazon. They have to actually buy something (unlike Google Ads where we get a couple cent each time someone visits a linked site).

The Basic Brewing link is a general link tagged with their ID so Amazon know who's directed a user to the Amazon site. I seem to recall they had a general banner with links to particular books at one time, but anyway, that's also a popular way of targetting an audience with products that they might be interested in.

Did you mean just having a general link to amazon like they have?

I though people might buy their brewing/beer books thought the Amazon link, but any additional shopping would also be welcome.

But I don’t know if basic brewing is a good model anymore, look who they allow on their site.
