Dashes in usernames 16 years 1 month ago #1

Hi - I wasn't able to register my usual username...
10-10-20. The system didn't seem to like it, but would take 10.10.20.
Can this be changed for me please?

Hi. Possibly, although it'd mean hacking about with the code of the site front-end, which I'd rather not have to do. For some reason, the creators of the content management system saw fit to block the use of hyphens in user names (usually this is for security reasons, though I can't imagine why), so I'll have to check why before I think about how to allow them. The site [i:3eoqbk96]will [/i:3eoqbk96]migrate to new platform in three months, so it's also possible that dashes will be allowed then without me messing things up

Hmm - that's odd!
I suppose I'll have to live with it!

It is actually. I never knew that until you mentioned it, and you're member 590!
