Or failing that, would it be possible to modify the new message bar on the community page to make it a tad more prominent? It's a little too inconspicuous for my feeble senses.

Incidentally, how do you know what my preferences are? I realise you're well informed but this is kind of creepy!

Back to your original request: I don't think there's any other means of alerting users to PMs other than by e-mail. Maybe you could set something on your e-mail account to flag messages that come from ICB?
