Is it just me? There have been a few times when I can be waiting 10 minutes or more for any ICB page to open up.
I can go on to other websites such as boards.ie without issue so its not an internet problem.

Im just wondering are others experiencing it or is it just myself and maybe I should change my DNS settings.

Yes, it has gotten very slow a few times this week. It's not the database (that'd give a timeout and I ran checks on it the other night), so I can only assume it's on the web tier, but I've no idea where exactly. I'll put a query into the hosts to see if I can get some metrics.

With all the media exposure recently, there was a definite spike of activity yesterday.

Excluding the 30th, the average traffic for March was
5,619 Page Views/Day
719 Visits/Day

The 30th had
12,167 Page Views
1,167 Visits

I don't have statistics on today yet, but clearly a huge spike probably based on the IT article. We have had similar spikes in the past, most notably 20/01/2009 and 02/02/2009 with similar numbers. Can't recall what might have sparked them though.

I started looking into new hosting about 6 months ago, but the slowness we had then went away. I may have to reconsider options depending on what I find out in the back end. Oh matron!

I've had this problem for quite a while with this site but then it's fine again for a while. If you're on shared hosting it's more likely that somebody else on the server is causing the problem. We had the same problem on another forum and demamded to be moved to another server. We thought it would be only a matter of time before it happened again but so far so good.
