PLEASE provide us with search functionality; trying to find a post that you read previously is PAINFUL. (Google helps some...)

There is a search button on the small bar at the top of the page.

The first line is Home News Articles etc

Then underneath there's a line with Irish Craft Brewer Forum Index, FAQ, Search.

You can search forum posts on it afaik.

The search is there, but it doesn't work fine. It's a pain in the hole, I find, because it just gives thread titles as results, not keywords-in-context.

I don't know if a better search results display function is included in a the newer version of the platform, though, so sticking with Google may be your best bet.

The search engine on the forum and the one on the articles section work independently as they are two different and almost-independent websites.

Yeah, the two work independently, and I find the front page search for articles etc reasonable enough.

The forum one is built into the phpBB engine, and the search tool is not the best in the world. It will find results, but as TBN says, you still have to look through the thread to find what you searched for. In most cases this is probably ok, but there are times when something is buried or out of context in a thread which can make fiding it a chore.

The newer version is much better (and has a far better indexing system), but I am still waiting on an effective bridge between the new Joomla and phpBB components before migrating the whole site. There is one that looks promising, but it's still in beta, and I do not want to risk the site on beta software <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->
