For beer makers, Liquid Malt Extract (LME) is much better than sugar. We invested a fortune to bring our own brand LME to Ireland last year. We commissioned thousands of them from a European manufacturer. At Euro 6.95 per 1.5 Kg can, its now about half the price of UK suppliers:
