60L and 120L plastic barrels / Drums on donedeal 13 years 7 months ago #1

They are based in Meath, and look to have a pretty good selection. Prices are decent considering you can get a 150L heavy duty drum for €35, and the sizes start from 12L. You would have to check re the food grade, depending on what you wanted them for. They mention chilling beer as a use for them, but maybe they mean for no chill!

For beer chiller I reckon they mean ice water cans and bottles for the Barbie a la Heineken ad. But if they're pp the should be fine for mashing and fermenting, but maybe not boiling ( but thats arguable)

I have a few that look identical to these. They're HDPE, I use them for grain storage and am very happy with them.
I reckon they are rodent proof, I've had one in the hen house for over 2 years storing grain with no problems.

Loads of lads over on Jims use these as boilers and one of the (very)small micro owners that use the site ferments in 220L versions of the same, just saying

I bought several large barrels from this guy in Roscrea Co Tipperary.

I can't remember prices as it was 6 months ago. However I haggled with him and drove him down on the price when I bought four. If I was doing it again I would take a trailer and get a bunch of people to club together. He had a whole shed full of them. I use them to store grain and other brewing bits and bobs. They are so far rodent proof, air and water tight and easy to stack when empty. Word to the wise the 150l are pretty
Big and would not fit in my car boot, and they just about fitted in the back seat. I am also using 2 of them as home made water butts. I would advise where ever you buy them to invest in the banded lids that seal tight. I only down side is the bright blue color
