Here's a pic I took last summer that kind of illustrates how each plant grows up two vertical lines to two horizontal overhead lines.

(An experienced hop grower would know this is Kent just from the spacing of the plants)

No Prob Barry, Talk away. I could send you the cut out plates so someone local can do the rest for ya, I thought being able to lower each plant is a good idea because we grow a mixture of plants which mature at different times.

Thanks, Shane, good to see some variants to consider. So, basically, it's like two Vs going up from each plant. I guess this gives each plant lots of space. If the Kent hop growers do that, it must be good <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

Ale Man, a cut out would be great, if you can. But thinking about what Shane describes, you'd have 3-4 bines climbing one rope with a teepee-like system? Point taken on the differing harvest times, that's good thinking for hobby hop growers with many varieties.

Exactly. They use a little galvanised loop stuck into the ground right in the middle of the hop crown and thread everything through that.

If you're not growing on a commercial scale and want just to grow in your back garden Ale Man's solution is perfect. I will probably buy one myself as I've a small urban back garden.

(Sorry Ale Man, didn't mean to derail your thread)

Hi Ale Man could you make one with 8 securing points?. I was planing on making a octagon raised beds. Will be ordering one either way.

Feck it, why not. It wont effect the strength what so ever, this is now an eight plant pole, if were going more then the plate diameter will need to be increased and so cost more but eight is still good for €80.
