12volt 5A Power supplys - Want one? For Free? 14 years 3 months ago #19

John,I think I can get cityPOST to pick up. Not completly sure yet untill I try.
Anyway, If you think you can stuff them in a box I recon I can pay cityPOST myself and they pick up.
Seems I can get a 30kg parcel delivered for €12 so if anyone else wants to share we can get them to Bray, might be handier than Clare for some people.

I'll go in with chris john.
RE switch mode.
Basically it is more efficient. The output is regulated or (or lowered) by switching the output on/off very quickly. More efficient than coils.

Not sure how you'd know it was switch mode. Theyre usually smaller i think.

Re applications.
My colleague took delivery of a couple of reels (10M) of rgb LEDS, he's putting them in behind his coving and a couple of your supplies should power them.

I'm using mine to power a couple of fans in my home made fridge.

...Thanks John.
Thanks Chris.

John, can you give me a collection address and I'll try and set up citypost.
So far we've 12 units in the box.
Any other takers for delivery to Bray speak up now!
Chris.

If anyone has access to an oscilliscope, you can check the frequency of the ripple on the output... should be a good few kHz if it is switch mode... I think 10kHz is fairly standard from memory...

Out of curiosity, what were they used for in their former life?
