Looking for 10-15mm insulation sheets 14 years 5 months ago #1

I have built a wooden box which holds 3 cornies.
There is a compartment at the bottom for ice and a 12v fan... basic cooler box.
Still have to mount 3 taps on the front.
Anywho, the walls have a cavity into which i want to put sheets of insulation.
I know i could use expandy foam, but i dont want to.
Anyone know where i can get these size insulation sheets - think they use them in false ceilings. Checked woodies, BnQ - but they only have the thick stuff for your attic.

Kingspan is the stuff we used in our converted attic and it is very effective.

go back to bandq ect and look for a foil insulation that has a bubble wrap effect. two or three layers of that and your laughing.
use tacks/stapels or glue to adhere it to your box, be sure to overlap by a few inches and tape up joints either using special shiney tape or just duct tape.

according to the builder it has a similar insulation property to the standard thickness of fiberglass inslution.

And I have heard that 10mm of Kingspan is equivalent to 30mm of glass fibre insulation.

From our own experience having replaced a dodgy glass fibre insulation job with a professional one in kingspan, I can say I am impressed. It turned a chilly converted attic into the cosiest room in the house.

Cheers lads, might be building a second one, so might go for a couple of different insulations just to see the difference.

For now - i think its a case of having to go with whichever is cheapest.

if you buy anything flatpack in ikea you end up with loads of polystyrene around that thickness.. just a thought..
