Interested in brewing in Africa? 15 years 3 weeks ago #1

I thought this would be a perfect place to post this great opportunity.

I am helping a friend's company look for an Irish expert on brewing (and distilling if possible). Plan is for a trial brewery in Mozambique Africa, with a target of about 10,000-50,000 litres per week beer, and a whiskey distillery of 2000 litres per week. Ideally a light black sorghum based beer, so experience in this would be particularly advantageous.

The person would ideally be an experienced brewer with hands on knowledge of getting operational a project of similar scale/nature. The work would involve:

- For a couple of months prior to going to Mozambique, advise/guide from Ireland (by phone & email) on identifying, selecting and evaluating the right machinery for the task (machinery will be sourced primarily in China). Advise/handle any questions on all operational aspects, inputs, outputs, any pollutants etc like scum or waste, as we need to show that the machinery and process is not polluting in an ecologically sensitive area. Also, if there is organic waste, how can we dispose it (eg making bio gas in a septic tank).
- Once all machinery has been delivered to the plant, you would be expected to travel to Mozambique and get the operation up and running to produce the first brew, local labour will be provided to assist. (Estimated several months stay in Mozambique)
- Train local staff to manage and maintain the operation. (while in Mozambique)
- Follow up consultancy work to help improve the taste and expand production. (Mozambique and Ireland)

As mentioned this is will be a brewery and distillery, it might be that two separate experts will be needed, but for now I'm just listing this in the same post. Some retainer fee would be worked out for the advisory tasks and for the Mozambique based work – expenses, board and a salary would be provided.

Please feel free to contact me for further information/clarification. Any interested candidates please send your CV and a cover on why you think you might be best suited. Please indicate your availability and your expected Ireland based advisory fee (i.e. monthly) + Mozambique salary expectation (monthly). Also estimate how many months you would need to get things operational in Mozambique. Emails to: <!-- e --><a href="This email address is being protected from spambots.
