Wow, are they both owned by the same.company?

Both are interesting with pretty sites, however the sites are not very user friendly. Aside from that, in relation to setting up a site for selling things online, it is not that difficult and as homebrew in Ireland is an expanding niche market, it should not be to incredibly difficult to reach or exceed the same level of these sites in a relatively short period. Especially if the operator of said sites were involved in the home brewing community.

It is something I have thought about, however I don't have the capital to invest in such a venture.

I would take the claims made on these sales pages with a pinch of salt. I would not call Ubrew "A leading homebrew website" I would also question it's 2 year turnover of €500K and net profit of €250K, but maybe they have financial statements to back that up, but I doubt it.

Both websites mention little competition, which I don't think is completely true either. I would say they had a go, and they didn't come near the existing suppliers. They are obviously not doing well, otherwise they wouldn't be selling up. They don't feature much on this site either, and we are probably some of the main homebrew equipment and ingredient purchasers in Ireland.

I would nearly go as far as to say that these ads are misleading.

Cheers,
Billy.

The ad actually said 0-500K and 0-250k - so anywhere in between - i bet it was just a form they had to fill out for the ad - and they were the smallest option... not very granular.

As for the second one... my brother got me a €30 voucher there for xmas (he wasnt aware of which were the main stream shops) and they took 3 weeks to ship the voucher! by email!! - they have a forum on the site and a few people are complaining of delayed orders.
So id question whether they're ready to pack up and run... better use my voucher quick!
