I was indeed, my Dad, while not a sparkie per-se does do all this kind of stuff and maintenance etc... we're wiring up my own "garage" at the moment with a whole new mains board and a few ring mains etc... I used the ""'s because it actually was a garage but is around 60% on the way to being a Bar & Cinema [/quote:h8ub3jwg]

you lucky, lucky man. What would be involved with my project is running cable through the external of the house to a point about 10 feet away. As I don't have a bricks and mortar shed I haven't thought about mains board, etc, thinking that I'd go with some sort of outdoor socket adjacent. I'll need something with the capacity to run a fridge freezer, a light of some description and occasionally a keggle (two 2200w kettle elements, run from two plugs). Ideally I need to have a conversation with someone who has a far greater knowledge of what's involved, so as I don't commit to something that ends up limiting my options.

1. Should hold 20-25 comfortably, don't have that many seats though. Could probably push to 35 but it would be super cramped... it's ~ 15' x 15' leaving ~ 6ft per person at 35, but thats excluding furniture such as the bar etc...
2. Unfortunately they will be communal and in the 2nd building (ie. the house) - however; there may be a stripper pole.
3. From when I'm awake until I fall asleep.
4. Neither, it will have RGB LED lighting though that functions similarly to the Phillips Ambilight. I did mention I was an EE
5. Not yet, but I reckon after one or two visits from them, they will be coming round more often in a less "official" manor.

I'll give him the power requirements etc... but I reckon at full load your looking at somewhere in the region of 5000w, thats allowing 500 for the fridge & light, then rounding up. This works out to be around 22 amps (taken as 220v, P=V*I therefore I=P/V or 5000/220) so it would most likely have to come either straight from your MCB or from your cooker feed (which IIRC is a 36A circuit).

Anyways, I'll check it out and let you know...

I did exactly this on my parents shed (now my brewery) not so long ago - was simple enough. As gues7 says above, you can do it off the circuit your cooker is on - that may be handier as chances are its closer to yoour shed. While you're using your keggle - its prob best to avoid using your cooker. You have to use outdoor sockets/switches in the shed - cant remember how much mine cost - but it wasnt expensive ~€60 euros all together and that included a long drill bit to drill through the wall.

Yeah - I plan on getting rid of a couple of wooden sheds over the next month or so.[/quote:cxh1fixy]

Many thanks to Gentleman Ed, who very kindly provided both two barna sheds and the trailer in which to cart them away this weekend. Added to this was his kind donation of two bottles of his wonderful ginger beer, which were enjoyed by the family in the sun and led to calls, nay, demands for it to be my next brew.
Thanks again!

Dan.
