Guys and Gals,

Thanks for the emails.

Yes the site is down at the moment, was supposed to be a routine upgrade but has got all technical, I am assured it will be up and running in a few hours...(they told me that a few hours ago <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D --> )

I'd drop Magento if I was you, I've heard nothing but bad things about it.

What would you recommend using?

We are just about to spend a pile of money on the rebrand to homebrew.ie so could look at a migration as part of this..

2nd big outage we have had...

Zencart. By far the best open sourced ecommerce system, very customisable and a very active development community writing mods and addons for it (me included).
