Oak Whiskey Barrels 16 years 6 months ago #1

Just saw these[/url:1wb4mjzt] on donedeal.ie

I wonder if they'd be usable... 'good condition' for a bar table or a flower pot isn't the same as the sort of good condition we're after. In any case, I'd need to brew 6 or 7 times to fill one, and then where the hell would it go! I'd need to lay those little rails that they have in old breweries all around the house and yard

Funnily enough I was in the distillery there a few weeks ago and asked about getting their second hand barrells. According to the guide, they only use them 3 times before rotating them out if memory serves. Also, based on what I could glean, the barrels are all oak, some have contained bourbon, some sherry and some maderia (before being filled with Bushmills).
I was given the following contact details if I wanted to buy one:
John Kane, 31 Haw Rd, Bushmills
Ph: 20731813 (prefix with 028 if ringing from the mainland or 048 if ringing from the south).

I rang and he was out but the person at the other end of the line told me he didnt have any at the moment. So I left it, cos Im lazy, and I wasnt really sure what Id do with one if it fell into my lap.
So if someone else gets in contact let us know
