Sam Adams Bock with no Vintage year? 16 years 9 months ago #1

I recently bought a bottle of Sam Adams Bock but noticed that the bottle didn’t have a vintage year on it, can someone shed some light on the reason for this. How can I find out the vintage year?

According to ratebeer.com[/url:uvlb3g3n],the 1994 and 1995 releases are marked with the year on the back but the 1997 is not. So my guess is that its a 1997.

I've one of those in my stash too. Didnt pop mine yet, did you try yours?

A friend opened his 1995 on Saturday, aroma filled it room not too dissimilar to a sweet soy sauce/sherry. The initial taste was a pleasant sweet favour but the aftertaste was a bit over powering. I was wondering should you let it breath before drinking.

I had their Double Bock a few months back and the soy sauce character was completely overpowering. I wasn't a fan, to say the least. Maybe the 'regular' version is not as sickly.

The Triple Bock is a very different proposition to the Double Bock, i.e. it's nice. I don't think there is a "regular" bock in the line-up.

I don't think it needs breathing, it's just a beer to have in small quantities. I think I drank the last one I had over four sittings.
