Jimmys Food Factory - the equipment he makes is interest 15 years 3 months ago #7

Agreed - its a good show and its nice to see someone showing us the tricks of the trade without the usual pontification on how fresh food is so much better for you.
My favourite episode was the one where he made a potato gun. <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->
In terms of the boiler - he did make it look easy, but then he seemed to skim over the details of how to make the false bottom, so Im not convinced. Also, his cooler was supposed to transfer the cool temp from the dry ice to the fish freezer, but I dont think it worked that well (when he opens it up after the 40 mins, the whole thing is lined with dry ice as well). So I suspect that if the gizmo doesnt work he bodges it (which is fine, its only supposed to be used once after all), but for that reason I'd be wary of following his fabrication methods...

Ah I wouldn't use any of his creations as a template to make them yourself, most of the stuff, as you've said, are once offs and purely indicative.

But again, the lack of pontification is great, especially considering he's an organic farmer.

I've seen a few programmes he's done on the BBC. There was one that he did on Farming but on a seriously epic scale. Wasn't preachy about the way it was being done, moreso a way to show the methods being used. And he made the point that if people want cheap food, out of season, that these types of methods had to be implemented.

Was interesting to see that getting you're green beans, mangetout or baby sweetcorn from Nigeria has a smaller carbon footprint than getting flowers from Holland.
