As per Pease Lyons on the Alltech website:

[i:1bv92301]For years I have watched the craft brewing and distilling industry grow around the world. From my own beginnings as a student working at Harp Lager and later interning at the Guinness Brewery, I have seen many changes. As a graduate of the British School of Malting and Brewing, I have learned the importance of education, which I have put to use on the design team for the first distillery to be built in Ireland in over one hundred years, the Jameson Distillery in Cork. That was a time of revolution, but there is a bigger revolution occurring now. It is a revolution of craft brewing and distilling. How can we help each other? What are the pitfalls of the industry, and how can we avoid them? How can we tap into the incredible camaraderie and cooperation that exists in our industry?

The purpose of the first International Craft Brewing and Distilling Convention to be held in Dublin, is to answer those questions. The event takes place during the Irish Gathering, and it is a unique opportunity for us to gather in colleagues and friends from around the world to share our ideas and move together as a team. We believe that as you visit the ancient Viking city of Dublin, you will find the experience truly Irish: embracing, entertaining, and educating. Come join us for this unique event.[/i:1bv92301]

And they will be holding a craft beer cup:

[i:1bv92301]The first Dublin Craft Beer Cup will take place in Dublin’s Convention Centre from the 19-20 July.

Brew will be pitted against brew in seven different categories, with local breweries going head to head with the best craft beers across the globe. The competition presents a fantastic platform for these breweries to increase the profile of their beer among a competitive commercial market and is also an excellent opportunity to build brand recognition within the industry.[/i:1bv92301]
