I spoke to Bruce and it's a Free-In tonight for any Beoir members. Just show your Beoir members card at the box office. The Beer of the Year awards will be at 8pm.

Well done to BeerNut last night for pulling a major coup for the BeoirFinder App. The Brew Dock in Amien Street are giving free Galway Bay pints to anyone showing a festival ticket/pass. Downside is that there are no tickets/passes being given out- So John contacted the Brew Dock and asked if the BeoirFinder cards that we were giving out could be used instead- and they agreed. Nice one.

Ill try and make it in for the award giving. Eager to try a few of these beers.

Did the wonderful app achieve many additional downloads because of the cards? I hope so! It's a great app!

I'm going to be honest here. The concept of the beer festival is great, it's something we all agree is a good idea but I think the format of Georges Dock is flawed. Take the RDS one, nice warm room, proper glass, proper toilet facilities etc. With Georges Dock you pay €5 to sit on a wooden bench in a cold room, drink from a plastic glass and use a Port-a-loo for a toilet. I brought my wife on Sat afternoon and after 2 drinks went to the Brew Dock.I think if we want to showcase craft beers then lets try and do it with propoer facilities that make the craft beer industry look good. I'm a huge fan of the craft beer industry and the way they are changing peoples attitude to beer and perhaps this comes across as nit picking but I still think that offering people decent facilities portray a positve reflection of the industry. I look forward to the RDS festival but I for one won't be going to Georges Dock again.
