Indymanbeercon - tickets now on sale 13 years 1 month ago #1

The Independent Manchester Beer Convention 2013 is on in October again this year. Tickets have just gone on sale, it was supposed to have been great last year with most of the more cutting edge UK breweries involved, Magic Rock, Dark Star (Kernel, i think) and others.

I've just bought tickets to the Saturday night session.

It's a pretty popular event (was supposed to be absolutely class last year, unfortunately I couldn't get there!) so don't expect to be able to buy tickets on the door!

I'll be getting mine today I think... £33 for three days of unlimited beer drinking...YES PLEASE

Fairly sure it sold out last year, and after all the positive reviews I would think it will sell out well in advance this year. So I don't think they will have tickets at the door this year - and I don't want to travel over to Manchester and not be able to get in!

Was at this on Saturday - superb festival. Fairly sure I'll head there again next year.

Tickets for the Saturday night sold out a month in advance meaning a mate of mine who dallied missed out, though there was the possibility of picking up tickets through twitter if you were quick on the draw and the person trusted you enough (and you them) to pay a total stranger.

The venue is hugely interesting in and of itself, amazing Victorian Baths, there were 3 separate bars in each of the pools (men 1st class, men 2nd class and ladies)with Magic Rock having the Turkish Baths to themselves.

Great selection of beers though some of the ones I was looking forward to were gone by the time I got there. All beers sold by the third with varying prices per third - many were 1.5 tokens (£10 bought 11 tokens) but some were 3 or even 5 in particular case.

They could have let in more people as the venue never felt full but was really comfortable, lots of places to sit, never a queue for long for the beers. A description of the beers would have been helpful rather than just a list and another gents toilet would be good but they're minor quibbles in what was probably the best beer festival I've been to (better than borefts for me).

I'm not great at describing the beers and there may have been a few too many "sours" for my liking but once I've checked my list of ticks i'll hopefully remember my favourite beers but the brodies/mikkeller mofo stout was really nice and didn't taste close to it's over 10% strength.

Will definitely head back next year.
