Never had the pleasure unfortunately. Think it was sold out at the RDS.

Using NZ hops isn't so much innovation in brewing as being innovative in sourcing hops. Tho most NZ hops are proprietary, so the same risks apply, though probably not on the same scale as the infamous "Amarillo burn" that brewers across the world experienced after 2011's harvest. 2012 world hop shortages are predicted. Less risk being innovative with free market hops with plenty of acreage.

There's an oxymoron

Let's not get hung up on the definition of innovation. I'm just saying there's plenty of scope to make "innovative" beers within the session strength pale ale category. Breweries like Thornbridge and Fyne Ales have lead the way.

I wholly agree, and there's plenty of scope within the Irish market to do it without using proprietary hops, imo.

One of my favourite beers at the moment, hop-wise, is Brooklyn East India Pale Ale, which is a great example of what can be done with Goldings, Willamette, Northdown, and Centennial, with nothing to equal it in the Irish market. I think maybe only Porterhouse's Hophead comes anywhere close.

I loved the stout and the torpedo clone, need to arrive earlier next time to not miss out.

I had a great night last Thursday, I thought the quality on the night was very high and i especially liked the two beers that had the nelson sauvin hops, so I now have to make up a recipe around that

I've just posted my DIPA recipe in the brew days sectiion.

It's not very detailed as I keep only that much notes.

Looking forward to next month, but I will most likely be mooching!
