For me, Saturday or Sunday afternoon is best. I can't justify driving home and the. Getting the bus back to Dublin and then back to Westmeath later on a work night.

As a possible solution could you drive to the LC after work, leave your car there overnight, get the bus home, and then get the bus the next morning and collect your car and carry on to work?
I leave my car there overnight every now and again. I did last night. It's a very secure car park, well lit with lots of cars belonging to customers of the hotel.
