Dunno, this is my wifes thing. I have no idea what is involved but I reckon she will call up people to get an idea of if they would be willing to do it. She may not get anywhere and just have to make it up so in that sense, it is imaginary but at least she will be testing the waters and finding out what is needed and all that.

I am the wife in question. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) --> I don't actually have to approach sponsors unless I'm actually putting on the event. What I have to do is create a proposal and part of that proposal is a marketing and PR plan. I would have to have something in place as to how I would approach the sponsors if I were actually going to put this on.

I am going to check out some venues for prices and availability; all suggestions are welcome! I was thinking of checking the RDS for a start.

I've checked out the Big British Beer Festival which is run by CAMRA. I'm going to see how much information I can get from them on the details of their festival and how they approached their sponsors. Not all of their sponsors are big breweries; one of them is Wetherspoons, and another is Travelodge.

As Saruman said, there is a chance of getting a grant from Failte Ireland. What I want to do is get an idea of cost and how much is covered by sponsors, etc. I think it would be great for Beoir to put something like this on to get your name out there and raise awareness of craft beer in Ireland.
