Independents Day Festival & Brew Comp. -- POSTPONED 15 years 11 months ago #1

Just got word of this so details are still very sketchy, but it's not far away and brewers might want to get planning recipes now.

On Sunday 4th July The Twister Pepper pub on Middle Abbey Street will be hosting a beer festival and homebrew competition. They'll be getting as many of the Irish micros as possible in, plus some selected imports. A couple of Irish breweries are already confirmed.

ICB will have a stand (its first outing as a subdivision of Beoir I suppose, technically: not that you'll see much difference) doing show-and-tell for the punters much like we did at SeptemberFest. We'll need bodies for that, and I'll start a recruitment thread.

There will be two competitions for homebrewers, probably divided out by kit and extract/all-grain. The organisers are assembling the judging panel so I've no idea who they'll be at this stage.

The festival will be divided into two sessions of 1pm to 5pm and 7pm to 11pm, and there'll be a competition run/announced in each. There will be prizes.

That's it for now, more details as I get them.

any idea what the format is, i.e. how much beer needs to be entered and in what manner? I have no real experience with this sort of thing

None yet. I just wanted to mention it immediately to give brewers plenty of notice. It's fairly safe to say the amount required will be under 20 litres.

And why it's worth your while entering...

[quote:jxfd117v]Cost €13 per ticket by booking advanced, €15 if purchasing on the door(if there are any left), the ticket will comprise of 4 beer tokens, each token = 1/2 a pint it will also contain a token to allow the bearer to collect 1 bottle of beer of their choice to take away.[/quote:jxfd117v]

There will also be a series of talks in the upstairs bar during the sessions. No idea what on, yet.
