Cuilan is having an open day at his new brewery in Templemore on Saturday 26th. He's making a new imperial stout which will be available for tasting on the day, before it goes into oak barrels where it'll mature until the Franciscan Well Easter Festival next year.

It opens to the general public at two, but the beer cognoscenti (you) are invited for 1pm.

For those travelling from Dublin, there's a train at 11.25, getting in to Templemore a 12.48. The brewery, he says, is 300 yards straight in front of the station.

I got all excited when he was telling me about it at Septemberfest, that is until he told me it was the 26th and I realised I will be on my way to Italy.

Actually I will not be going till Sunday but Saturday my mother and brother in law get in from the US and we have the day in Dublin before heading off to Italy on Sunday.

This should be fun. Hopefully I'll be able to make it.

Dam, I'd love to go! My son's band are launching their album at the Academy that night. I don't want to go embarrassing him more than I usually do!
