We had a most enjoyable Meet last Friday night in the Bierhaus. Everyone who indicated they would attend were there as well as Peter and Paudie from the Franciscan Well who are most welcome as always.

I will just make a few comments (my opinions of course only) on the drinks sampled. These are not in order of serving.

Taf – Aldi juice Cider – This was a cider made for Aldi apple juice with some apples added as well as tea tannins – I think what this brought home to people is what can be done with boughten apple juice. Well done Billy – tasted well too – especially after a few beers it was nice and refreshing!!!

Taf – Cranberry concoction – Nice but glad I did not have too much of it! – I quite like cranberry juice anyway but too much of it could blow the head off you!! Again well done Billy.

Beeristhereason – Happy dog ale – Despite what he himself thought we all really enjoyed this ale. He said the first few bottles were more rough but it is definitely very nice now – again well done man!

Niels – Imperial stout – A Really decent stout. \Well done Niels. We all really enjoyed this one.

Wallaceybiy – Eden Ale – This was his first ever brew – I think he is a bit hard on himself but it was not a bad ale at al considering it was first ever brew.

Wallace Shed Stout - - again a really decent stout. Well done again man!

Rebel – APA – one of the purgatory family and a very good one too. He said it is very young yet and needs to be left in the bottle a bit longer but it was really nice.
Rebel Stout – Again a bit hit! Pretty high in alcohol maybe 8-9%. It was good!!!!!!

Ger – a non brewing member brought along Hook Norton brewery Haymaker’s pale ale – a new arrival in the abbots!!! A lovely pale ale. Especially a great beer for this time of year I think.

Great beers and great fun as well. Overall a very good night was had by all I think!!!

Thanks to Andrea and Chris for great service and for copious supplies of glasses and water.

Thanks again guys for bringing some great beers.

I have said it before but if not for ICB we would all have never met - cheers Sean, Barry et al for starting such a great site. Also nice our little community down south is growing slowly but surely!

Great beers indeed. I am really going to have to get my act together and do some proper brewing. The cider may have been a bit tart as someone politely put it. I seem to like it that way, but maybe have just got used to it. In fairness the cranberry concoction is more like a strong sparkling red wine, but it got a few approving nods, so all good.

As usual it was great to catch up with everyone, and to meet one or two people that I had not met before.
Cheers,
Billy.
