TOPIC:

I know it's very late notice but I just found out that The Wine Centre on John Street in Kilkenny is having a beer talk tomorrow from 4pm to 6pm. I think it will be on German beers in general with some tasting too. I was down today stocking up and found out about it.
I just thought I'd let ye know. I'm heading down from Carlow to it and it might be a help for newbies like me. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

The Wine Centre is one of my favourite off licenses. It's a pity I'm not still living in Kilkenny as I'd head to this. They always have a great selection of beer. They even have Japanese plum wine, which my friend who lived in Japan said she never saw in Ireland before.

It's a great spot allright. I was talking to one of the guys there and he said they would like to be doing more beer but they have problem with supply. They get some of the more unusual beers from their wine suppliers but they might only be re-stocking every few months and it's not feaseable to order just a crate of beer. They hope to increase the range soon, which is quite impressive for a novice like me anyway. <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D --> Not to mention their wine and whisk(e)y stock.
The guy giving the talk is called Barry and is one of their suppliers, I think. Will know more this evening in more ways than one.

is it barry fitzgerald? coz he is one of the beer revolution founders in ireland what with eurobeers and all.

I'm not sure, sorry. I was a bit rushed down there yesterday and all the guy said was that he was called Barry, that he knew everything about beer and was a supplier.
Sounds like the same guy.
I'm a bit new to all this and I don't know all the people involved in the craft beer set up in Ireland.
