Doesn't look like the 10 euro cost would have been worth it to me...but maybe for people who haven't tried these beers before it is

The second night is on Tuesday the 4th of November and there will be 8 English ales for tasting[/quote:2s4fh0c3]

I popped into Sweeney's on Saturday night and noticed the same descriptions above on laminated cards by each of the beers, so it's good that they're sharing the results of their tastings with their customers.

I picked up a few bottles of Anchor Summer Beer (American Wheat Beer) for the princely sum of €1.85 each. Nice price for imported craft beer and not far off half the price of Sierra Nevada Wheat.

Yeah, but SN Wheat is rather poor. What's the Anchor one like?

I had the Anchor one last night (although I certainly paid a lot more than that for it in McHughs). Tastes like an alright-but-nothing-to-write-home-about crystal clear lager, to be honest. Or maybe an alright-but-nothing-to-write-home-about, underhoppped crystal clear pale ale. Nothing particularly wheaty about it (it didn't even hold much of a head)

There American wheat so there usually are none of the hefe flavors aromas

Hendrixcat and I have a theory that American wheat beers are never any good. Looks like it's holding up so far. Still, €1.85 isn't bad at all.
