The Wessex Beer Festival is being held September 26th and 27th September 2008 in Somerset. It's promising over a 100 beers and ciders from around Britain and looking at last years list of beers (which contained only Wessex beers, Oktoberfest style) I'm already getting thirsty! Myself and my girl are going to this on the Friday, availing of the camp site being offered.

But the real reason why we're going to Britain that weekend is the Great British Cheese Festival. It's the biggest cheese festival in Britian and this year it is being held in Cardiff Castle Saturday and Sunday 27th and 28th. It is a mecca for cheeselovers! With the proximity to the ferry port and the Wessex Beer Festival the same weekend I can't resist!

I know a few folk are going to Copenhagen for the European Beer Festival in September but is there anyone else who might be interested in heading to Britain for this gastronomic weekend?! The more the merrier!

What kind of cruel world has these two events separated at all? Beer and cheese belong together!

I would have loved to go on this beer and cheese weekend, but Copenhagen wins.
Have a good time and make notes. I want to hear all about the cheese as well as the beer.

With a week to go before this real ale festival in Wessex is anyone else planning on going?

As a real ale festival the list of beers is quite extensive and I'm really looking forward to trying out a few. With camping next door I'm planning on sampling more than my fair share such is the selection! I'm going to take a few photo's, a few notes, and will report back to ICB headquarters when the dust settles.

Any chance of having this festival included in the ICB calendar?

Sounds great, and I may well have planned to go except for my up coming wedding.

You can add the festival to the calender yourself and when one of the ICB overlords approve it, it will appear on the site.
