I meant to say above: I'd have thought that we could be covered by whatever basis UCC work on at the 'Well. Unless it's a basis of hoping the Revenue Commissioners don't go to beer festivals.

Are you saying that if the ICB stall charged the normal rate of other exhibitors, but gave all takings to the organisers [i:3a5xs1xd]in payment for having the stall[/i:3a5xs1xd] that would be illegal?

I wouldn't be against the idea, and if I was there for the festival wouldn't mind being involved in a stall. As Séan said we would have to give careful consideration to the mechanism of giving out samples. When it was mentioned here before, and I think the Well fest was mooted, Les explained how they have done it in Scotland, so perhaps he would be a good guy to talk to.

I'm sure I could help out.
It wouldn't be very hard to have a stand with home brew information, samples of the kit needed and all that. It would also raise the profile of home brewing in Ireland and get rid of some the preconceptions people have about it. Like that Daily Telegraph article which had every one of them.
I wonder will we ever get to the stage they have in America where they have home brew festivals? I don't even know if such a thing is legal.

I'm in as long as the dates work, as regards beer samples I would go along with Séan and Noby - keep things as simple as possible. I would be quite willing to donate a cornie or two of beer if the timing is right.

Whatever way we do it, if at all, I think it should be emphasised that the ICB stall is not about giving out beer. And if we can't, we can't.

Pints of beer, no. But sneaky samples would help in the whole "Home brew is good" argument.

If this is run like the Galway one, though, I wonder what are the odds on not having to pay for the stall? Pretty slim, I'd imagine.
