Wetherspoon's Real Ale Festival March 2016 10 years 4 weeks ago #1

Having recently visited the excellent Standing Order Wetherspoon's in Derby, with 16 festival beers on tap and 28 on gravity, I decided to see what was still available at a number of the Dublin outlets yesterday. Having been disappointed with the offerings at late stages in past festivals, I was pleasantly surprised this time around. Here is a breakdown of what I found:

The Three Tuns:
-Birrificio Italiano, Bibock.
-Devils Backbone, Bravo Four Point.
-Green King, Benjamins.
-Everards, Yakima.
-Hydes, Bruges.
-Marston's, Irish Peated Ale.
-Hook Norton, Crafty Fox.
-Acorn, Barnsley Bitter.
-Thunder Road, Pacific.
Note: Titanic, Plum Porter; and Wadworth, 6X Gold taps were badged as being available soon.

The Forty Foot:
-Wadworth, 6X Gold.
-Caledonian, Vienna Red.
-Hydes, Bruges.
-Marston's, Irish Peated Ale.
-Thunder Road, Pacific.
Note: While Birrificio Italiano, Bibock; Titanic, Plum Porter; and Timothy Taylor, Boltmaker were badged up, the taps were empty.

The Great Wood:
-Vale, Punk Is Dead.
-Green King, Benjamins.
-Everards, Yakima.
-Marston's, Irish Peated Ale.
-Acorn, Barnsley Bitter.

I would be interested in any festival feedback from The Old Borough and The Linen Weaver.

Very impressed with the Old Boro in Swords.

They told me they were getting about 25 out of the 50 festival beers on the Fest Menu Flyer.

They tend to have about 10 fest beers on handpump at a time!

So far I have enjoyed 4:

William's Black
Titanic Plum Porter
Brouwerij 'Tij Amsterdam Blonde
Birrificio Italiano Bibock

All 4 were excellent and served at the peak of perfection for cask ales. Don't know about the other 'Spoons but we in the NCB rekon their cellarmanship is 110%

At €2-50 a pint you can't go wrong!

Still 2 days left!

I had a few Sheppard Neame Blue label Hoppy cask at the weekend in the Linen Weaver, can't remember its real name, but was very nice and cheap, Linen weaver also had a fair few festivals on, and some coming soon also.

BockMonster, you did better than me at The Forty Foot on the first Sunday of the festival: there were only two or three on. But Blackrock had given all 12 taps over to festival beers and were pouring 11 of them. I was dead impressed.

On the other hand, of the eight festival beers I had, the Adnams/Thunder Road Pacific was the only one worth drinking.
