OK so the plan of action is to start judging at 1pm.
That means getting there and getting set up beforehand if possible.
I will try and be there for 12:30
I suggest grabbing a bite to eat before arriving. We should get some comped food later in the afternoon though during a break.
We currently have 5 judges. I think the best thing to do is to judge individually. Aim for 10 beers each a there should be no more than 50 entries I would say (fingers crossed).
Unlike Killarney, we will not be using BJCP sheets. The ones I did up after robbing from the interweb are pretty quick to fill out. This is a much smaller and less formal affair.
We will give an overall rating. The highest scoring beer of each style from each judge will go in to a mini BOS. Kellie will sort that out. In the case of more than one beer from a style getting a top mark, we can wing it. Likely with a second opinion but it would be better for judges to make a call themselves.
What we should end up with from 5 judges is 5 beers going forward to each style category.
There are 5 broad categories:
Pale Ale
Stout & Porter
Wheat Beer
Lager
Speciality (anything goes).
We only pick one winner for each category. The 5 category winners go in to a best of show. We eliminate two beers and then pick a first, second and third.
Each category winner will get a framed certificate.
Each BOS winner will also get a framed cert, though a [i:1pskd5mn]slightly [/i:1pskd5mn]fancier frame.
I doubt many (if any) of the brewers will be there in person but I expect they will be coming back for their equipment so can get their certs then.
