[quote:lq72szsh]There is something magical about the harvest, something otherworldly as the seasons change and the days shorten and darken. This year we have tried to capture that moment of time in a beer. Hops once harvested are usually dried for storing and convenience. However, at harvest time each year a fortunate few brewers (usually within hop growing regions) are able to obtain hops directly from the farm to be used fresh within hours. This harvest we were lucky enough to be among that number. Lupe Garou is the resulting beer, a Fresh Hop Ale made with fresh East Kent Goldings. The name takes inspiration from both the French word for werewolf, Loup Garou and the resinous powder extracted from the female flowers of the hop plant, Lupulin.
In an effort to highlight the celebrated hop variety, [b:lq72szsh]East Kent Golding[/b:lq72szsh]s, we used only one variety of malt and added the hops throughout the brewing process. The hops arrived at the brewery a few short hours after harvesting, with all their freshness and vibrance intact. The resulting beer exhibits notes of white pepper, sweet citrus, pine, and sage with just enough malt sweetness to support the assertive bitter edge.
We are unleashing Lupe Garou on the world this Thursday in The Back Page, Phibsboro, with the beer appearing in many pubs on draught shortly thereafter. We would be delighted if you could join us.

The other one uses French hops. Just the same name.
