Hendrick's Gin 17 years 2 weeks ago #1

I splashed out on a bottle of Hendrick's Gin there the other day - DELICIOUS! I was also tempted by Crimson gin by the cork distillers; has anyone tried it?

I just don't get Hendrick's. They make a big hoo-haa over how different it is, but it just tastes like gin to me: nice, but not paradigm-shifting.

It's all in the cucumber botanicals

No it isn't! It's all on the label which talks about it all being in the cucumber botanicals, but it still just tastes like gin. Their branding writes a big cheque which their product just can't cash, IMHO.

I enjoyed both Hendricks and Crimson, Hendricks is more subtle but I think I preferred Crimson.

Definitely a runner for the summer - if it ever arrives - and a good alternative where no decent beer is available.

"It's all in the cucumber botanicals"

We actually serve this with cucumber.

Both Hendrick's and Crimson are Pot Still Gin's. As in distilled in a whiskey still with the botanicals suspended near the top which then allows for the vapours to pass through them and infuse.

Most other gins are spirit with botaniclas added, essentially.

Crimson is distilled in a 210 year old(1798) re-conditioned whiskey still from Co. Cork.
