I will be spending a week down in Ennis shortly. It looks like a desert in terms of Irish craft beer. I do note that Dungarvan brews will be in Cloisters restaurant & Bar (just announced), but I doubt if I could afford to be eating there every night! Anyone any other ideas for places with something decent to drink - even if it's not Irish craft beers?

White Gypsy say they are going to be hitting the area shortly...

It is pretty poor for a town of its size alright. Cruises Bar in the Queens Hotel has some bottles - Hooker & 8 Degrees. A bit pricy though - €6 and €5 respectively, and I drank the last bottle of Hooker last week so I can't guarantee replacement!

Try the Gourmet Store on Barrack Street (opposite the Cathedral). It is a small restaurant with a few good Irish and foreign bottled beers - nice athmosphere on a fine evening or day.

Thanks for the advice! I will be watching/assisting at Rás na mBan so my nights will be free!

Just reporting on my visit last week to Ennis. The ICB scene has improved slightly but is still poor for choice. The best place that I found was Shannigan's bar (outside Ennis) at the Inn at Dromoland hotel with full range of Galway Bay beers and 8 Degrees beers available in bottle (€6 and €5.25) with very good food also. I've added this to the database.
I also discovered Ennis Gourmet wine bar (will add to database shortly) which is a tiny quirky wine bar with limited opening hours (closes 9.30 pm) but has good wine selection (good prices) and a fridge that had Dungarvan Comeragh Challenger, Galway Bay Bay ale and Galway Bay Full Sail bottles.
The Rowan Tree café now stocks the O'Hara's beer range in bottles (added to DB). I also spotted a lonely looking bottle of GBB Bay ale in the Railway Bar but not convinced!

A couple of pubs now seem to offer Fran Well Rebel Red (e.g. O'Hallorsn's); maybe evidence of some clout when backed by Moulson Coors. Fair play to them though.

Is that bottle still in the Railway bar?!
Lucas' on Parnell Street are supposed to have Rebel Red in bottles.
