I checked out the websites of the recently announced Irish Restaurant Awards Gastropub Champions listed on the home page here with a view to paying a visit over the summer. Only the Purty House and The Brewers House have any listing for beer on their menus. Wines (which I really enjoy) galore but no beer.

Why do so many pubs list their wine menus but rarely their beers? Are most pubs even interested in the beer they sell?

That's a really good point. I think a lot of pubs (and breweries, for that matter) just don't put much effort into their websites. It can be very difficult even finding opening hours, which is arguably even more fundamental than beers.

And I'd hazard that no, most pubs aren't interested in the beer they sell. Sure that's the sales rep's job.

Yes, this phenomenon drives me mad - even half the pubs in the Good Beer Guide don't list their beers.
UK and Ireland have catching up with the US to do in this regard.
And The Old Fountain in East London - as much an old man, salt beef, smelly carpet pub as you like - tweets their list every day so don't tell me it's too much work.

Every pub should have something like this -- [b:36st0013]and actually update it[/b:36st0013].

One of the ideas for a future version of BeoirFinder would be to have the App monitor a particular hashtag (say #BFbeerlist) and if it ties to a Twitter account stored in the directory database then it would parse the tweet and use it as a current "beer list".

Of course, it's down to the pubs' desire to keep such a list updated.

Have you looked at some of the staff in bars nowadays, would you put them in charge of a twitter account ?
