Has Messrs got its act together? 13 years 4 weeks ago #25

There was a Sweetman brewery on Francis Street back in 1838 through to at least 1890 (and before that Sweetman was on St. Stephen's Green somewhere). Wonder if they're referencing this in the name?

Yeah. There's a tenuous connection in that there was a Sweetman of the brewing family on the Wide Streets Commission, which in turn is responsible for the building of Burgh Quay.

They have "Est 1756" on their logo, which is a bit daft, I think.

Well, it's right Sweetman had breweries in Dublin in 1756, but that's definitely a bit rich. The last Sweetman brewery was knocked down in 1900 by Lord Iveagh (Chairman of Guinness) to make way for the Iveagh Market! <!-- s:| --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_neutral.gif" alt=":|" title="Neutral" /><!-- s:| -->

Too close to WolfRam and Hart for my liking

Sounds more like shady solicitors than a brewery
