Hi folks,

I joined the team down at Probus a couple of weeks ago to help them to expand the craft beer side of the business so I thought I'd let you all know what's happening!

At the moment we've got a fairly decent selection (around 100 bottles from Ireland, UK, and elsewhere)but we're hoping to gradually increase this number over the coming months. Our main focus for the near future is to expand the selection of large bottles - Chimay range, Chouffe range, etc - and then to move onto sourcing some interesting bottle conditioned British ales, German bocks and doppelbocks, and big-hitting American brews; naturally we're very focused on the promotion of Irish craft beers too and we're currently stocking a pretty comprehensive range (including the Dungarvan seasonal).

I'll also be running beer tastings on Thursday evenings,with different themes every week, and maybe a couple of beer and cheese pairing evenings to make use of our growing deli counter.

So, if you're around D2 over the coming weeks we'd love to see you - we're doing Illy coffee and sandwiches, and we've put an order in for a load of cool beer books to put on our tables, so you can make your beer browsing even more enjoyable! I'll post a thread in the marketplace section when we start getting new stock coming in that I think you'll find interesting!

Good to hear Alex, I look forward to seeing your stock, I (could) walk past there when I pick up my wife from work!

Your website doesn't list what other Irish beers you have other than Dungarvan, can you elaborate on your stock, or maybe get it up on the web and post the link on here, I didn't bother linking as there are only 3 breweries I could see on there, Dungarvan, erdinger & Schneider.

Great to hear another off-license is trying to put together a good beer selection!

Yep, getting some web-minded soul to sort the website out is on our growing to do list - I do admit it's a bit useless at the moment! Rest assured there's plenty of stock! For now we're going to concentrate on getting our Facebook/Twitter/Blog up to scratch in terms of alerting people when new stock comes in (as I'm typing this I've just unpacked cases of Harviestoun Ola Dubh 12yr, Tripel Karmeliet, Kwak, and 750ml bottles of Chimay Blue & Red!!) so I'll get round to posting those on the social media sites ASAP!

Weekly beer tastings are all going well, we've been introducing plenty of new folks to the delights of ICB and good brews from further afield which makes everything worthwhile I think!

I'm currently in the process of planning an IPA and Chili pairing night for the near future using some cracking chilis from Café Azteca - will keep you all updated when we get a date fixed for the event!
