Went into the bar below Yamamori Café yesterday eve (where Café Des Irlandaises used to be)and was blown away - what a place!
They've got a great range of the Hitachino Nest beers (one of the most renowned Japanese craft breweries)that are incredibly difficult to track down in UK/Ireland - Yamamori import them themselves.
They've got an excellent one called Nipponia on tap - chock full of Sorachi Ace, and absolutely delicious - citrus, lemongrass, herbs, dry finish, brilliant stuff. Interestingly it used to be top fermented with lager yeast, but they changed to bottom fermentation last summer, so I guess given that it's 7% or so it could be classed as an imperial Japanese lager...but whatever, it's delicious.
They've got around half a dozen bottles too, including the Wit, Weizen, and their IPA which has been aged in cedar casks).
Not wildly expensive either given the rarity factor over here - 5e50 a bottle - not bad at all considering ATG, Porterhouse etc sell Sierra Nevada Pale for more than that.
Small ICB presence too with O'Hara's IPA on tap.
Great atmosphere, tasty Japanese tapas (if there's such a thing!), and interesting craft beer - winning formula in my book. Would recommend it!
Cheers,
Alex
