Can you recommend a Dublin off licence pls? 14 years 4 months ago #11

Many thanks for all your responses. I've sent a mail enquiring about the booklet so thanks for that, that'd be perfect to include in the hamper.

As regards what he likes/dislikes he'd try anything in the name of research & I can't think of any beer that he has refused to drink! Of the non-craft beers... we studied a brewing technology course a few years ago in Belgium so we got to try loads of Belgian beers & visit lots of breweries etc which was fantastic and probably the favourite we took home with us is Duvel. Another regular purchase in our house would be Paulaner...

Do any of the micro breweries around Ireland open their doors to the public? Would it be possible to include tickets for a visit to one of these as part of the gift? (without wanting to risk excluding great breweries, the closer to Dublin the better in terms of convenience!)

Thanks again.

well messer mcgiuires on the south quays brews there beers on site and there brewery is visable trough glass. they also do nice food and beutyfull beers (i love there bock) unfortunitly as far i understand they dont bottle beers.

as regards hampers and assuming he drinks any style my personal preferences for a diverse range would include

eight degrees brewing comp are doing a christmas special ale and there sunburnt ale is nice

o haras do my fave beer there IPA and there leainn follain stout has buckets of flavour

the porterhouse do a oyster stout that actually is made with oysters that is diffrent (but tbh not my thing) and i have not had a chance to try any of there bottled versions but i love there plain porters

galway hooker has a bottled version of their pale ale now quite good

dungarvin brewery have a blonde ale called helvic that maby a bit summery for this season and i understand but have not tryed they have a new christmas brew coffee and oatmeal stout

the college green brewery belfast do a titanic beer that i liked

trouble brewing do a Or golden ale thats nice as well

as i siad already its my personal preferences but thats a diverse list of various styles and brewerys in ireland. id particulary recomend including the seasonal winter beers you can find as they are only produced for a short while and he may not have had a chance to try them
