no messing at messer maguires. a great night 14 years 11 months ago #1

i was in the city for the rush concert last night with a friend. i dont get out much lately due to two small kids so we had to choose between the poterhouse or somwhere nearer the O2. so we went to messers. busy for 6 in the afternoon but like i siad no we sat at the bar and got a pint of plain each nice stuff
followed by a pint of rusty also very nice stuff.
followed by a pint of bock the best in my opionion.

like i siad it was busy but the barman and barmaid flew around pouring pints and dishing out food without missing a beat. i was talking to a barmaid when it quitend down a bit and was delighted to find she knew her stuff re beers that they serve but also other micro beers in ireland. its rare to find such good service and i figured worth a mention here.

it was the start of a great night.

I'm glad the bock is again dark, I was happily surprised last week. It's definitely a different dark bock than last time (not as sweet, although it's been a long time and memories can be fickle things), but still good.

I saw signs for a Messers Cask ale, has anyone seen it on yet?

That sign was last current in about 1999. Anyone remember MM Yankee? A clone of a clone of Budweiser <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

But there's usually a cask ale downstairs, isn't there?

I have been on the bock here the last few nights, it's a great beer.

Re Casks: I spoke to Mel about the cask she had down at brewers on the bay and she had borrowed the hand pump for the occasion and I think in the process of convincing the boss to get in the equipment. I would be very interested in trying the cask ale from brewers on the bay again, it was yum!

Let me know if anyone spots the fruity cask beer!

Oh you liked the fruity wheat on cask? I enjoyed it. It makes you make a strange puckered face as it sucks the moisture from your mouth. dangerous stuff.
