Will be in Dublin on Tuesday and have maybe 1-2 hours to spare. As I will be close to Messrs maguire would anyone recommend any special drinks thee. Have sampled their IPA, Abbey beer and Bock in Franciscan Beerfast in past and was inpressed. As I will only have time for a few I would appreciate any recommendations.

Also do they do bottles for sale. Do not seem to have a website which is surprising. I met the brewer a couple of times and he seems a bit of a character - guy from Tipp.

They have a best bitter on at the moment. I tried it from the fermenter a few weeks back when I was in the brewery. It seemed pretty good but I haven't tried the finished product. Most of the better off licenses have M. Maguires bottles but I'm not too sure of any around the city centre.

Their seasonals tend to be better than the regulars. Otherwise I usually drink Rusty or Weiss, though neither are terribly special.

The last time I was there I had a reasonably impressive stout and a good best bitter. I think there was something wrong with the Weiss, it had a horrible eggy aroma. I think it may have been sulpharised. I know these things can happen but the barman wasn't very gracious about it which annoyed me.

To be honest I don't like the pub itself. It's a pity because we have so few brewpubs.

I'm not too fond of the pub either but there's some good beer to be had so I'm prepared to overlook the problems.

Some of the stouts are very satisfying and I plan to try the best bitter as soon as possible.

For me it's a lunchtime place, as it right across the road from my office and it doesn't have the noisy Dublin superpub crowd in it yet.

Perfect Friday lunch: Generous carvery dinner and few micro brews, as I take the piss by taking two and a half hours for lunch and come back to the office half cut.
