Unbelieveable Liverpool Pub 15 years 11 months ago #1

Just back from a few days in UK where I took in a night out in Liverpool. Myself and a few friends ended up at a Real ale festival in a pub called the Ship and Mitre [url:3hxdqzmb]http://www.theshipandmitre.com/[/url:3hxdqzmb].

I have to say that this is worth a trip to Liverpool simply for the range they have. They had about 30 ales available with about 10 different ciders and there was no problem tasting as many as you wanted before buying. The only downside is that I can't remember what I had after the first pint (Dark & Handsome), nor the breweries involved. Suffice to say I wasn't aware of the pub beforehand and so was not geared up to taking notes/stealing menus etc...

There was a good atmosphere there, with a decent crowd, but still seats available if you wanted to grab a table and I would heartily recommend a trip over to it.

The Ship & Mitre is impressive all right. There are lots of great pubs in Liverpool. The Fly in the Loaf was my particular favourite; and there's the Victorian splendour, and pies, of The Phil too.

Phil is nice alright, my mate used to live just around the corner there - the tourist attraction toilets can be a bit weird when you're standing there and the barman brings a group of women in to see them though...

It's a fantastic spot. It's a good city for a beer crawl. You need to know where but good beer can be found.
