Who goes to O'Neills Suffolk St ? 16 years 1 month ago #1

...in Dublin ?

I was in there a few years ago before the rugby took off and remembered it being a grungy old man's style bar. Years later I went in and it'd turned into a rugby/tourist bar around the same time Thing Mote did. Called in there today and the majority were all tourists. Of course that's alright given the week that's in it and the location but usually what's the clientle like?

I sat at the bar for about a half hr and it that short space of time I heard many a foreign accent ordering either Budweiser, Heineken or Carlsberg with the odd adventerous one going for Guinness or Bulmers. All while I sat in amazement at their massive varied selection - at least for a Dublin pub, as sad as that sounds!

I tried to get in once and could barely get in the door. I left quickly. It was Christmas though and I was on my way to the Work Christmas party so that might explain it.

Fado fado when I was a student in Trinity I used to go in there a lot and it had mixed clientèle then -a good few students and ould fellas . They then started doing carvery lunches and the business types starting going in .Soon after they started to change parts of it at the back and side (horrible pink/red ceiling lights etc ,but have since removed those ) They have left the old bit with the snug that opens out onto Suffolk street pretty much as it was .
I usually pop in there to wait for the airport coach as do a lot of tourists .Tourist numbers have increased since the old church opposite was turned into a tourist office .

They have a fair ould range of beers now it must be said .
Still well worth a visit -they show the Rugby on a screen outside so the smokers don't miss any of the action <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->
