Balbriggan Supervalu 16 years 3 months ago #1

I was pleasantly surprised before christmas, when looking for some red cabbage (I didn't find it anywhere) I wandered into supervalu on the balbriggan mainstreet, and found a whole stand full of "world beers", and an incredible selection to boot! As I remember, the more shocking inclusions were Rodenbach grand cru, McChouffe, Fullers ESB, Adnams Bitter, landlord, Orval, and various other belgians and british beers. I can't remember what else, but there were 4 or 5 shelves of it. Anyway anyone near balbriggan might want to keep that in mind (you probably know about this already Kev) but it would be pretty good if the normally appalling supervalu rolled some more of these stalls out. The prices were fairly standard, and certainly not exorbitant. And to think, up until now, in my mind, balbriggan had just been the haunt of drug dealers and murderers!

I think it just shows that Balbriggan is much more sophoticated but less ostentatious than it's little neighbour skerries!

The selection is excellent, nothing very unusual but as richie says it's got a very good stock of english and belgian beers, also goose island and some holiday lagers if you're into that sort of thing.

i mentioned it to colin of california wines/beers as it would probably be a good bet for stocking their range.
