I've been informed by my wife that we're heading to Sligo at some stage in October. I haven't been in years and the only pub that i can remember is Connolly's. Nice old pub, but pretty certain that it was standard beer fare (things may have changed, so i'll stand corrected). I was wondering if any ICB forumistas might have any information on pubs in Sligo that stock anything out of the ordinary- bottle or draft. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Apparently Tobergal Lane Café in Sligo serves Galway Hooker - let us know if that's up to date if you make it there.

Will do, as far as i know we will be up there for some family gathering at some stage in either end of October/ early November. I'm sure I'll end up in a few pubs and will dutifully report back here. Sligo isn't really that big, so i was being a bit lazy in asking in the first place.

They still had hooker on tap when I was there in July. As the name suggests it's more of a cafe than a session pub. They used to have the three Carlow beers on tap too but they've decommissioned O'Haras and Molings. McGarrigles on O'Connel st. had bottles of O'Haras and a few from Shepards Neame last time I was there. Foleys on the corner of Castle st. and Teeling st. might also be worth a visit, they have a decent off-license with a good selection of English and Belgian ales and the usual weisses, etc. Unfortunately the (attached) bar doesn't stock much of these but they'll often get you something from the off-license if you ask.

So where is good in Sligo now?

I don't get to Sligo much these days so there might be a place I don't know about, but the situation for craft beer had gone downhill last time I was there. Tobergal Lane Café closed a few months ago, and McGarrigles changed ownership and discontinued the fridge of good bottled beers. There's plenty of good pubs, Connolly's, Mc Laughlins, Shoot the Crows, Mc Lynn's, but not much craft beer. Foley's is still there with it's decent offie.
