There's a pub on the Phibsborough road, between the fire station and Doyle's Corner, (can't remember the name off hand) which has something like the usual "Fine ales and Stouts" sign, but also claims to be a "Hop Store". Must pop in and pick up some Goldings, at some stage[/quote:39aypypb]

I've noticed that one too, it'll be the Phibsborough House you're referring to. Though I've never been inside so I can't vouch for whether the multiple claims on its signage are correct or not.

The only pub I know with it's own whiskey is Henry Downes[/url:21ylcvyb] in Waterford. They don't make it anymore but they still have the bottles. I hear it's expensive stuff. I don't drink whiskey so never had it. They do an eclectic selection of beers in there.
It's a pretty eccentric pub anyway. My mates band once played in a room in there that I'm pretty sure is/was the house sitting room.

They'd just have taken the barrels in and stored them before bottling. I'm guessing modern excise law makes it practically impossible, even if you wanted to do it.

Green Spot still bears the name of Mitchell's (ex) of Kildare Street who presumably would have bonded and bottled it previously.

Best pub in waterford by quite some distance (best beer selection 2, with all of 2 beers outside the norm, Spaten and Franz)
Anyway the Whiskey is Downses No. 9 - I'll be honest I thought they were still making it but I'm not much of a whiskey drinker but it is definately a very tasty little drink.

And the Sitting room is the back room which only is open for functions and stuff, but I can see what you mean <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

The funniest thing about the place?
This old pub in the City Centre has it's own full Squash Court, Game of Squash followed by a pint.

I hope it never closes as it's such a random pub. There used to be a grand piano in there as well if I recall.
